What a Bali wedding actually costs
Venue, photography and the numbers couples miss — from the prices Bali vendors publish on VOWTOYOU.
Bali is the easiest destination wedding in Asia to plan and the easiest one to underestimate. Here is what the published prices look like, and what sits outside them.
The venue is the floor, not the budget
Bali resort wedding packages listed on VOWTOYOU today run from about Rp34,500,000 to Rp561,000,000 — roughly US$2,000 to US$34,000 at the time of writing. That spread is not a mystery: the low end is an intimate ceremony for a dozen guests, the high end is a cliff-edge villa with a full reception and guest stay packages.
Read what the number covers before comparing. A "wedding package" can mean the space for four hours, or the space plus catering, sound, a basic arch and a coordinator.
Photography is priced in dollars, and quoted per day
Bali photographers listed here publish US$1,450 to US$4,500. The variables that move the price are the number of hours, whether pre-wedding is included, how many edited images you receive and the delivery window — not the camera.
The costs that surprise people
- Legal paperwork. A wedding in Indonesia has a civil process with document requirements that depend on your nationality and religion. Many couples marry legally at home and hold the ceremony in Bali. Decide this first — it changes your timeline more than any vendor does.
- Guest movement. Villas are spread out. Transport between hotel, ceremony and dinner is a real line item.
- Season. Dry season runs roughly April to October, and that is also when venues are fully booked. Shoulder months are cheaper and wetter.
- Currency. Vendors quote in IDR or USD. The amount you pay moves with the exchange rate between booking and the final payment — the number on our listings is converted for reference, and the vendor's own currency is what is charged.
